Attempting to install TS3 on new VPS

Hello all, I've read the sticky but I am still confused. I have never used a VPS before but have some experience with cpanel. Is there any way I can install TS3 without using SSH/shell? If not, I've gotten to where I've uploaded the server files in the directory I want. However, I don't know what programs to use to go from there if I am forced to use shell.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    This one.

What program is he using for the shell? I have WinSCP. For the host, do I connect to my cpanel user or my VPS user?

As it's write on this thread, don't use this outdated script/method.

    So, step by step :

1- Download the server package. Put it where you want (classic method on a folder in your linux user folder)
2- Connect on your machine using your linux user
    3- Extract it
4- Start your Teamspeak server using your linux user
    Code:
    ./ts3server_startscript.sh start
Donc't forget you have a documentation in the doc folder or there : http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=literature

I guess thats where I'm confused, starting it. I can't find command line anywhere in cpanel, I see SSH/shell but I don't have access to it...I assume I have to use a separate program to start it and put in that command?

Yes, you must have the shell access to start any software (as Teamspeak).

But now I have a doubt. If you just have a web hosting account on this VPS, you can't start anything.

I was able to get into SSH through cpanel. I tried typing that line, but it said there was no file or directory found. It is under public_html/voip, but how do I get the CLI to recognize that instead of looking in the root directory it is connected to? (The tar.gz file is sitting in public_html/voip)

You need to be in the same directory as your TS files. use CD to change to the directors where you put everything, type LS and make sure you can see the ts3server_startscript.sh, then try again.

Where else would I put it? I wasn't going to put it into the main one, but in /voip under it.

Edit: Moved it one uip from public_html and it started up. Wish I did that a while ago. Thanks for the help all!
