    MySQL server_properties value column too small

    The MySQL database seems to get some of its values in the server properties table erased. This includes important values like the default channel groups, causing the below error to appear when the server automatically starts up.

    After some investigation i found that after i had added the 3 necessary values to avoid errors, (default channel admin group, default channel group, default server group) started the server, connected to the server, and used the "edit virtual server" window to set the rest of the properties that once again these entries were missing from the MySQL database!

    2011-10-13 06:25:29.906250|CRITICAL|VirtualServer | 1| Assertion "getVariableAsUInt64(VIRTUALSERVER_DEFAULT_CHANNEL _ADMIN_GROUP) != 0" failed at server\serverlib\virtualserver.cpp:4955;

    Teamspeak 3 Server v3.0.0 with NPL
    Windows Server 2003 R2 Edition KN
    MySQL 5.5.15

    The only values that are not erased from server_properties are:
    id0 virtualserver_name
    id0 virtualserver_welcomemessage
    id0 virtualserver_maxclients
    id0 virtualserver_max_download_total_bandwith
    id0 virtualserver_max_upload_total_bandwith
    id1 virtualserver_unique_identifier
    id1 virtualserver_name

    EDIT: After even further investigation i have found that the root cause is the failure of the teamspeak server to either enforce a limit on Welcome Message size or to use the TEXT type column for server_properties to accommodate long messages. The table uses VARCHAR(255) as the column type but i had a pretty long message which was causing the server to fail to insert the data since it does everything as part of a single query

    Thus the bug here now seems to be either that the server fails to enforce or account for things like welcome messages that exceed the size of the column used in the database or that the column is too small.

    I have an question?
    How did you get more then 255 chars into the server welcome message? do you use any special character for this?

    -The client rejects the 256th character
    -The query tells me, that i have used an invalid parameter size
    - and MySql gives me that error
    Code:
    0 row(s) affected.
    Warning: #1265 Data truncated for column 'value' at row 49

    UPDATE `ts3`.`server_properties` SET `value` = '1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111112' WHERE `server_properties`.`server_id` =1 AND `server_properties`.`id` =1 AND `server_properties`.`ident` = 'virtualserver_welcomemessage' AND `server_properties`.`value` = '111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111' LIMIT 1 ;
