    Hello.

It's explained in the e-mail where you have recieved the license.

In my case, a NPL one, it says:
    Code:
    Congratulations!

Your TeamSpeak 3 Non-Profit License has now been issued.

    TO ACTIVATE YOUR LICENSE:
    1) Place the attached licensekey.dat file on the root directory of your TeamSpeak 3 Server installation folder.
    2) STOP AND RESTART the TeamSpeak 3 Server master binary (exe) process.

Please DO NOT share your licensekey.dat file with ANYONE outside of your registered organization. Doing so may cause your license to be SUSPENDED.

    Thank you.
    Greetings.

If you actually rented a TeamSpeak Server a license will not do you any good as you cannot use it.

Licenses are for people who setup and run the server themselves.

It's simple, after extract your TS3 server folder on your machine, you have a folder name 'teamspeak3-server_linux-x86', you open it and you put in your license. After start your server and normally, you can edit your server for 512 slots.

Depends what exactly your Situation is and where you installed the TeamSpeak Server to.

If you run TS3 Server on Windows, the licensekey.dat goes whereever ts3server_win??.exe is located.
If you run TS3 Server on Linux, the licensekey.dat goes whereever ts3server_linux* is located.
If you pay someone for your TS3 Server there is nothing you can do and you do not need the licensekey.dat.

After pasting the file into the appropriate location you have to stop the Server and start it again for it to recognize the License.

Still not sure? Still did not understand? Want to discuss this in German? Feel free to send me a Private message.

Not really no, the Server checks for the key on startup, but it does not overwrite the key on shutdown! So placing the key while the Server is running is just fine, it just won't be recognized until the server starts again.
