Solved Connection lost / failed to connect (but appears as connected to others)

    Hello.

I seem to be unable to connect to our guild's TS3 server, I always get something like this:

<00:56:54> Trying to connect to server on 66.69.152.43
    <00:57:17> Invalid server password.
<00:57:21> Trying to connect to server on 66.69.152.43
    <00:57:23> Connection to server lost
<00:57:24> Trying to connect to server on 66.69.152.43
<00:57:34> Failed to connect to server
<00:57:35> Trying to connect to server on 66.69.152.43
<00:57:36> Maximum number of connections with the same identity exceeded.

The client log looks like this:

The weird thing is that people on the server see me as connected.

But I cannot connect to other servers, either, which give and ok ping and traceroute.

Trying to connect to a server from the server list, I get this:

    Trace complete.

    OS: Windows 64-Bit
    TS3 version: 3.0.8.1
    Anti-virus: Avira

    What I've tried:
    - uninstalling/reinstalling TS3 in 32-Bit and 64-Bit version (not simultaneously)
    - deactivating Avira realtime protection
    - deactivating sound portion of the graphic card's HDMI interface
    - connecting to other servers (not working)

I don't even know where to start looking. The first client log is from trying to connect to our guild server and the fact that (to them) I appear to be connected seems to suggest that I can reach the server. I would happily attribute the problem to the timed out ping and tracert, but I cannot connect to any other server with good ping and tracert, either.

    - I don't have any other network problems.
    - Mumble, Ventrilo and Skype all work without problems

I'd like to add that I talked to the server admin this weekend and he tells me everything is OK on the server side. He can see me connect to the server and he even could move me into the appropriate channels before I lost connection after about 30 seconds. When I leave the client running, it keeps trying to connect, occasionally connects and then disconnects again after 28-30 seconds.

I think this thread could help you:

Thank you. I saw that thread and tried turning off HDMI sound as that seemed to help the last poster in that thread. My router has no settings relating to flood protection. From the description I agree that it could be the problem, however, if that's the case I don't understand why all the other voice chat programs that I use don't seem to trigger flood protection.

    Other thread of interest:
    http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthrea...+ip#post312928

Really, the issue with the 'Flood protection' is related with the loop disconnection/connection.

Usually, the issue wiht "can't connect" points to a firewall parameter (in the router or in the PC) related with UDP transfers.

Just for testing, if your router includes firewall or DoS protection, disable.

Sometimes the issue is the 'Antivirus' (some rare parameter). See this other thread:
    http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthrea...ghlight=norton

Firewall or antivirus or some security tool is blocking the UDP transfers.

Then, maybe this is the answer to your 'mystery' with the others programs not affected: they seem not to use UDP transfers.

Thank you again for your reply.

My Windows firewall is turned off and I completely uninstalled any antivirus program.

My router has not settings for flood or DoS protection or anything that looks like it. It does have an internal firewall, but it is integrated and I cannot turn it off. I can only open and forward specific ports. (Router is AVM Fritz!Box Fon WLAN 7050.)

Both Mumble and Ventrilo use UDP and work perfectly fine.

    RESOLVED!

I am happy to report that the problem has been resolved by turning off UDP checksum offloading on the network adapter.

Thanks for insisting that it was a UDP-related problem.

You should provide more detailed description of your problem.
In those threads you have posted there are two very different causes of problem that can be described same way.
Include in your information: if you use windows/linux/mobile and what version. XP/Vista/windows 7/etc. Restart your pc and you should be able to find(see it) out.
Is it notebook? sound card? headset? How are you connected to the internet?
