Different servers with different users, can't make virtual servers, any fix?

    I downloaded/installed teamspeak in such a structure:

/home/teamspeak/teamspeak_server/files. I used a root account to set things up, and once I wanted to run it I did a chown -R teamspeak:teamspeak /home/teamspeak/teamspeak_server/- and wanted to run the server. (./ start).
I did this succesfully and set up the server, except that I forgot to su to the teamspeak user. So now I run it with root priviliges.

No problem, I thought. Just chown stuff again, shutdown the server, su to teamspeak user and start it up again. Except that when I do so, I lose all my virtual hosts/settings. I start with an empty/clean teamspeak. I am also unable to make any new virtual servers (I do have the no-profit license).

I'm not sure what causes it, since I changed permissions to the teamspeak user. I thought that was all there was to it. When I start the server as root again I get all my servers/settings back and can make new virtual servers as well.

Is this a known issue? What am I doing wrong?

Please check the server logs and also post the output of
    ls -Flah
from within the directory of your TeamSpeak server.
