backing up server in Mac OS X

i'm running the free server on my mac mimi. it's installed on a 2 GB thumb drive. every time the power goes out, it trashed the db file and i have to reinstall the whole damn thing and start over... very annoying. the power has gone out three times in the past month. i'm beginning to feel that california is a 3rd-world region. anyway, i made a disk image (.dmg) of the flash drive as a BU, but when i restored the flash drive from my BU, it doesn't work.

    the mini is running 10.8.2.

what can i do to solve this issue?

    thanks for your help.

yes, the database contains all channels and permissions etc.
However you should shutdown the server process before creating the backup copy, to ensure all data has been written to the database correctly.
