Question Teamspreak 3 Server High CPU load

    Hello,
    I have a virtual machine which has a 2.8 GHZ CPU, runs a TeamSpeak 3 server. For 16 people, I have a workload of approximately 20-60%. With 30 people I have 80-100%

Here is an exact delisting from top

    top - 15:10:04 up 1 day, 6:26, 2 users, load average: 0.00, 0:05, 0:08
    Tasks: 83 total, 1 running, 82 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
    Cpu (s): 5.6% us, 19.6% sy, 0.0% ni, 38.9% id, 0.0% wa, 28.1% hi, 7.8% si, 0.0% st
    Mem: 384628k total, 168660k used, 215968k free, 23572k buffers
    Swap: 265208k total, 0k used, 265208k free, 108308k cached

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S% CPU% MEM TIME + COMMAND
    1085 user 20 0 59572 19m 6180 S 60.7 5.3 164:21.26 ts3server_linux

Host and Guest are both Debian. Host is an HP DL360G3 with 2 x 2,8 GHZ

    What is the problem?

Encryption shouldn't cause load that high. I'm assuming multi-core though.

the system is not encrypted. According teamspeak is the minimum of an Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon XP, or any newer CPU (recommended: 800 MHz or faster). And since my cpu is probably much stronger. The basic system which has 2x2, 8GHZ consumes 1-2% of TS! I read a little of other contributions kernel or driver problmen. Has anyone an idea?

It may be using a lot of CPU % but not a lot of load so your system isn't doing much.

P.s You should use htop :P # apt-get install htop

When there are arround 30 ppl and the CPU is on 100%, the voice begins to lag, so its real load.
Htop is telling me the same high CPU usage.

-> I noticed that the TeamSpeak server have 25 processes in htop and on the host server with 2 TeamSpeak servers I have 8 processes.

    This problem is so stupid

Perhaps it is not the server but the environment where you run it.
You mentioned host and Guest. Bare metal specifics:HP DL360G3 with 2 x 2,8 GHz
    What kind of virtualization?
    What version of debian?
Do you use mysql in your teamspeak3 server?
Where is your virtual machine running? Provider?
It could also be something your hoster/provider wouldn't tell you like, bug in virtualization(I know of at least one provider) load on server(host) itself from other machines etc...

First check, and if you don't have any of these tools in your virtualized install it.
Also can you run few commands for me(post results)?
    Code:
    df -hl ; mount ; free ; w ; ifconfig | grep bytes ; ps aux
and this one when CPU goes nuts: for a few minutes(to stop it pres CTRL+C):
    Code:
    vmstat 1
    If you want PM me.
