I was just about to start a thread with this exact same issue. Funnily enough for me, it only occurs when I am using the wired connection on my PC, if I am connected wirelessly I do not experience these drop-outs. Unfortunately on line gaming and a wireless connection isn't very enjoyable

I have contacted my ISP (iinet in Australia) who to date have advised me to:
    >- power cycle the modem
    >- update firmware
    >- disable firewall
    >- port forwarding
    >- lower MTU setting

All to no avail and they are now washing their hands of the issue.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe is the ethernet card itself...
in modern PCs, there are options in the ethernet card that affect to UDP traffic:

Ok. The issue you are describing uses to be consequence of a limitation in the UDP traffic. It uses to be a parameter in the router:
In the "Firewall" section, something as "IP Flood Detection", "IP Flood Data", "SPI firewall", "DoS detection".

Maybe the limitation is applied when you are wire connected due to the speed is higher than by wi-fi and then timings are reached, just a theory.

If you connect to the server and once connected you experience "disconnections" this uses to be due to a limitation in the UDP traffic:
some parameter in the router firewall
some parameter in the pc firewall or antivirus software
some other software is running that uses or affects the UDP traffic

What network card did you get and how much? I'll probably just get new one too
