Moving a server from one machine to another (and IP change)

    Hello,

As I have a new machine to host my TS server, I try to move it (I have a NPL and 10 servers)
    - I copy all file from first machine to the second one
    - I update ts3server.ini with the new IP adress (3 lines)

As I read that copying files and update ts3server.ini is enough.

I stop server from first machine

When I start server on the new machine, virtual servers do not start, trying to bind on the IP adress of the first machine !!!

Here is two logs (main and one sample of virtual server) from the new machine:

    Code:

    Machine is running under Debian/Linux

Where is stored this IP, in the database ? (I do not found it)

    Hi Smokyr.

I think the Ip of your server is stored in the Database from the Accounting Server and itīs bound to your NPL.

Suggestion : Get an New NPL

Thanks, it was I was thinking, the only relation is the virtual server identifer.

As I have to move quickly, I move, without saving virtual servers.

So moving a server is not a simple copy/paste, when you have a NPL, something to improve by the teamspeak team. (as you do not have the right to ask to a second NPL when you have one)

I have change the IP attribution of the NPL (contact with teamspeak) but they do not change the IP of the virtual servers affected...

So a solution for others who wants to make the same and keep their virtual servers (after the copy/paste) should be something like:
    - Stop the old server
    - Rename the old database so the new server should create a new fresh one.
    - Start the new server
    - Create all the virtual servers (do not take care of configuration, it is only to have new virtual servers identifier)
    - Look at the data base and save the virtual servers identifier
    - Stop the server
    - Replace the new database by the old one
    - Modify the servers identifiers in the database with the new one (so good IP)

I hope this works, not tested on mine.
