Solved TS Server: valid license not found

I was sent an NPL. I copied/pasted the NPL into the root folder of the TS server installation directory. Stopped and started TS service. Logs show this:
"2014-02-21 17:18:23.358319|WARNING |Accounting | | Unable to find valid license key, falling back to limited functionality"

*.dat file was not modified. Opened .dat file and it shows no printable characters but I can see something is in the file (appears as ASCII blank spaces).

I've searched this site and Google and read about a dozen or so threads on similar issues but haven't been able to find a resolution.

    Server info:
    Server 2008 R2 x64 Web edition
    TS server version 3.0.10.3

    Log output:

The license file was probaply damaged by your mail client. The file is mostly human readable. In the upper part there are clear text ascii information about you and the license. The lower part is the key, but it is still printable acsii even if it look weird. So in your case clearly the file is incorrect/damaged.

Your mail client needs to be able to process base64 encoded attachments.

Got it resolved. Thought it weird no characters were readable in .dat file. Opened in hex editor and nothing was there.
I originally download the .dat file using Outlook. Apparently Outlook strips the data from the file?
I opened the file using Google Mail and the .dat file was populated with readable text.

Uploaded to server, restarted, everything works fine now.

The license should be human readable with the information you supplied in your application at the start of it. If it's just showing a jumble of random characters it may have been corrupted when you copied it to the server. Also possible that your email client (the one you used to receive the NPL email) corrupted the attachment

You could try getting the license resent and use a different email client to receive it, something has obviously corrupted the file
