License changes Feedback (10 to 2 servers)

Even then, the TeamSpeak staff [COLOR=#333333]insisted on the existence of a non-profit license to support small clans, social networks and communities... and in my personal opinion, 512 slots (no matter how many virtual servers) are more than enough for everyone that has no commercial interest.

Thank you ScP for the perspective from the other side, and I want to thank TeamSpeak for being pretty awesome when it comes to their license structure.

I'm fully OK with a 2 server and 512 slot limit for future NPLs tho. I'd even be fine with a single server...

I only run 1 server pretty much period, using an NPL. I don't think there has ever been a time in history where we have gone over 32 slots, even during Guild meetings where it's "all hands". There have been times where we've hosted other clans / guilds completely for free while they got on their feet and it's nice to have some head room to be able to do that for them. We are not in it for money, we are in it for the community and TeamSpeak Systems GmbH has been a fantastic supporter of the community that it serves. I am sad that we loose some flexibility in the new licensing setup, but I also understand it.

Everything is correct with your license and all other NPLs.

So what's the excuse this time, or have you scrapped the 2/512 NPL?

Hey, my licence just got renewed, and.. I now have 10 servers instead of 2. (lol?) I'm not complaining, but thats somehow weird.. xD
And my friend, who's had an old 10-server license also got renewed.. he still has 10 servers. Did you change your policy about NPL's again Teamspeak?

It always amuses me to see people fighting over something they get for free. Its too bad people are all about getting everything handed to them without giving anything in return. I personally have no problems with how TeamSpeak is handling this matter. Its risky but I'm sure it helps clean up the books a bit. As far as piracy is concerned, you're always going to be dealing with piracy in just about any type of software you encounter. I know I'm going to get some haters for this but I don't understand the concept regarding having 512 slots for non profits that are only clans lead by non companies. So many apply for the NPL's that are just looking for a handout. I would have structured the NPL aspect quite differently personally.

Non profit licensing should be capped at a maximum of 64 or 128 slots as most of these are just clans that don't want to fork over the small fee for TeamSpeak. Companies and organizations that are non profit already enter into the sponsorship license aspect which I feel is a mutually beneficial arrangement for both parties already.

As for the error above, have you checked to ensure your machine is communicating with the accounting server?

I'm not fighting over anything myself, but no-one knows how they're handling this matter, not even Teamspeak it seems.

According to their news item on the subject, we should all be switching to 2/512 NPL's by now, but we're not, we're still getting renewed with 10/512 NPL's

I talked to Sales and got this statement and the permission to write this.

NPL issued before Jun 2014
All NPL's with 10 virtual server and 512 slots will be renewed automatically with the same condition.

But you will loose this condition for following reasons:
1. Abuse of that license (selling, hosting for others etc.)
2. Your license did not renew, because the server was inactive

NPL issued after Jun 2014 / Or you want to request a NPL
Your license will be renewed with 2 virtual server and 512 slots.

There is no way to get a NPL with 10 virtual server.
Please do not create tickets for this. This condition is only for the old license type.

This was an official feedback, since there are no news about the situation.

So I noticed that NPL's now only allow 2 virtual servers yet I have an NPL from when you allowed 10. Will my license change when it renews to only allow 2 or is my NPL grandfathered it and therefor ok for life for 10?

No! Teamspeak announced to change the license system but it were not so clear for existing NPL license.

You know that was not clearly announced, never got an official thread on the forums like most announcements. And was originally worded that all licenses would migrate to 2 v-server. Only after someone found it and made a post about it did that news even reach the community here. After a lot of upset NPL hosters contacted them they silently backtracked the migrating of 10 v=servers to the 2 v-server license. Just added the to confusion until they finely stated that licenses would renew with same type as server had.

Looks like you just got grandfathered into the old NPL license structure.
